We offer a free 20-minute initial telephone consultation to discuss your concerns and find out if speech and language therapy assessment and/or input would be beneficial.

An initial assessment with a brief summary report

A brief initial assessment typically lasts between 1-2 hours and will consist of taking a case history (background information) and carrying out formal and/or informal testing and observations. However, this is very much dependent on the complexity of the communication difficulty. The assessment can take place at home, school, or within the community, wherever is more appropriate for the individual. This will be discussed and agreed during the initial consultation. Every initial assessment is followed by a brief 1-page assessment summary. This will give a brief overview of speech, language, and communication difficulties, as well as some brief recommendations on whether further input is needed. You can choose to receive a fuller and more detailed formal report which will be charged at an hourly cost. Formal written reports are based on an hourly rate of 8,000ksh per hour; the exact cost can be advised based on the required level of detail.

A detailed initial assessment with a comprehensive report.

A detailed initial assessment will last 2-3 hours and can be completed over 2 or more visits. This will consist of taking a case history (background information) and carrying out formal assessments using the most appropriate assessment batteries for the concerns raised and the complexity of the communication difficulty. The assessment can take place at home, school, or within the community, wherever is more appropriate for the individual. This will be discussed and agreed upon during the initial consultation. Every initial assessment is followed by a comprehensive and detailed report which can be shared with other professionals if required. The report will detail recommendations for further input and aims moving forward.
